Are all the best human beings… teenagers?

June 1, 2011

Are all the best human beings… teenagers? I work in a high school (not as a teacher) and I have never met so many wonderful human beings. Teenagers are unguarded. For the most part they are easily read. Understood. (Maybe not by parents.) And even the most troubled kids are gems. Their wounds have not yet turned to scars. Their cynicism is charming. Their bravado is comical. Their humour is contagious. And their sincerity is heart breaking. In almost all ways they are beautiful. So what happens to them during the next ten years or so. That turns so many into a…holes. I think they give up.
